Two free signing workflows

Sign your own PDF or send an agreement to somebody else.

Choose the job you actually need: add your own signature and download the PDF immediately, or add up to four signers and let us email each private signing request for you.

No payment setup

Create an account and prepare a signing request without choosing a plan or entering card details.

Private signing link

We email the named recipient an expiring private link tied to the exact agreement you uploaded.

Completed PDF included

After signing, the originator receives the completed PDF by email and the signer can download a copy.

Deliberately focused

Choose self-signing or recipient signing

Use Sign your PDF when the document needs your own signature. Place the signature and date boxes, draw or type your signature and download the completed PDF. The temporary upload is deleted after completion.

Use Send an agreement when other people need to sign. Add up to four names and email addresses, review the request and Pen Free Signatures emails each private signing link for you.

  • Up to four signers per PDF
  • Hand-drawn or typed signature
  • Signer full-name confirmation
  • Server-recorded completion date
  • Electronic signing certificate
  • Tamper-evident audit evidence

Short retention

Documents are not kept as a permanent archive

A free signing service should not quietly become a permanent store of private agreements. Drafts and unsigned requests are removed after 30 days. Completed documents and their related signing data are removed seven days after completion.

Both parties should download and retain their own completed copy. The sender receives the completed PDF by email, which reduces the risk of missing the seven-day download window.

Suitable use

Built for ordinary agreements

Pen Free Signatures is intended for routine agreements where a simple electronic signature is appropriate. Examples may include uncomplicated freelance agreements, service confirmations, ordinary NDAs and internal approvals.

It is not designed for wills, powers of attorney, property transfers, deeds requiring witnesses, notarised documents or regulated identity-verification workflows. Requirements vary between countries and document types, so obtain professional advice where the form of signature matters.

Common questions

Useful details before you begin.

Is PDF signing really free?

Yes. During the early release, sending one finished contract or agreement to up to four signers is free and does not require payment-card details.

Can I use this to add my own signature to a PDF?

Yes. The Sign your PDF workflow lets authenticated users position a signature and date, sign in the browser and download the result. Use Send an agreement when somebody else needs to sign.

Does the signer need an account?

No. The signer uses the private email link, reviews the document, confirms their full name and completes the signature without creating an originator account.

Can I draw my signature?

Yes. Drawing is the default signing method. A typed signature is available as an alternative, and the confirmed signer name is printed beneath either signature.

How long can I download a completed PDF?

Completed documents are available through the service for seven days. Download and retain your own copy as soon as the signing is complete.
