How it works
Upload, position, sign and download
After signing in, upload a finished PDF up to 20 MB. The preview lets you move between pages, place the signature and date fields and resize them to fit the available space.
Confirm your intention to sign, choose whether to include the optional evidence page, draw or type your signature and create the completed PDF. Your confirmed account name is printed beneath the signature and the signing date comes from the server clock.
Privacy
The same short retention as other completed documents
After signing, the completed PDF appears in your workspace in the same way as another completed agreement. The original, completed PDF, optional evidence page and related signing data are retained for seven days.
Download the result promptly and store it wherever you normally keep important records. Pen Free Signatures automatically deletes the retained document and signing data after the seven-day window.
Appropriate use
Check whether a simple electronic signature is suitable
The feature applies a simple electronic signature. It does not provide a witness, notarisation, regulated identity verification or an advanced or qualified electronic signature.
Do not use it where the document requires a witness, multiple parties, special execution formalities or a higher-assurance signature. Obtain professional advice when requirements are unclear.

Will the PDF be emailed to somebody else?
No. The self-sign workflow creates a download for you. Use Send an agreement instead when another person needs to receive and sign the document.
Is my completed self-signed PDF stored?
Yes, briefly. It is returned to your browser and remains available in your authenticated workspace for seven days, after which the document and signing data are automatically deleted.
Can I draw my signature on a phone?
Yes. Drawing is the default and works with a finger in a modern mobile browser. A typed signature is also available.
